We have two dedicated dog-friendly areas within our traditional Cotswold pub, where you can dine comfortably with your dog by your side.
Whether you are joining us for lunch, dinner, or a drink at the bar, dogs are welcome in these designated areas.
Dogs are welcome to stay overnight in our rooms for a small additional charge.
For guests who prefer not to leave their dogs during breakfast, we are happy to arrange seating in one of our dog-friendly dining areas. Please let us know at check-in so we can accommodate your stay.
We provide a warm welcome for canine guests, including complimentary dog biscuits at the bar and water bowls available outside the main entrance.
Dogs are also welcome in our garden, and we ask owners to keep dogs under control and to clean up after them.
Directly opposite the inn is a public playing field, ideal for a short walk or morning stretch. The wider Cotswolds countryside offers an abundance of walking routes, making The Wychwood Inn a perfect stop for walking holidays with dogs.
Surrounded by rolling Cotswold countryside and neighbouring villages, Shipton-under-Wychwood is a wonderful base for exploring on foot. From gentle rambles to longer circular routes, there are plenty of scenic dog walks starting directly from The Wychwood Inn.
We kindly remind guests that dogs should be kept on a lead where livestock is present and that walkers should always carry a map, as routes can occasionally be affected by seasonal changes.
After a day in the countryside, all routes lead conveniently back to The Wychwood Inn for a well-earned drink or meal.

You’ll pass through a mix of farmland, woodland tracks, and riverside paths near the River Evenlode, with opportunities to spot local wildlife along the way. Dogs should be kept on leads through woodland and livestock areas.
The return route passes close to Lyneham and across fields before heading back towards Shipton-under-Wychwood, finishing with a relaxed walk back into the village and the inn.

Route note: Paths can be uneven or seasonal in places, so we recommend appropriate footwear and a map.
A longer countryside walk linking three picturesque Cotswold villages, combining open farmland, woodland trails, and village lanes.
The route initially follows the same path out of Shipton-under-Wychwood before continuing deeper into Bruern Woods and Foxholes. From here, the walk extends towards Fifield and Milton-under-Wychwood, offering a peaceful mix of forest tracks, hedgerows, and open fields.
The return leg brings you back through Milton-under-Wychwood village and surrounding farmland, with wide views across the countryside before rejoining Shipton-under-Wychwood and The Wychwood Inn.

Route note: This is a longer walk suitable for experienced walkers and active dogs. Please ensure water is carried, especially in warmer months.
Both routes begin and end at The Wychwood Inn, making the pub an ideal base for walking holidays in the Cotswolds. With dog-friendly dining, accommodation, and garden areas, it is perfectly suited for guests exploring the countryside with their dogs.
